What is the RMDS Progression System?
The RMDS Progression System uses certification level (junior data scientist, senior data scientist, expert data scientist) to track your growth as a data scientist on RMDS. Along the way, you’ll earn badges for your achievements. By participating in different activities that are specified in the category of expertise below, you can earn credits accordingly, which will be calculated automatically to determine your current certification level.
Activities to Earn Credits
There are a wide range of activities available for you as a RMDS community member to earn credits and to progress in your level of certification.
When you join the RMDS expert portal, your role in the platform upgrades to RMDS expert, which unlocks more opportunities to deeply engage in the RMDS community via activities such as teaching, publishing and mentoring.
RMDS has a well-established online data science learning platform (learn.grmds.org) and offers a diverse selection of self-paced learning courses, educational webinars, conferences, seminars, workshops, and related activities. Depending on the length of the activities, you will earn at least 1 credit for attending a single-time event (e.g., webinar, seminar) and 2-5 credits for the activities that require a longer commitment. Start earning your credits now at https://learn.grmds.org/
RMDS offers quarterly competitions that focus on solving real problems via data science. All participants who completed a solution can earn 2 credits, and participants who win awards can get their credit doubled to 4 credits. RMDS Project Impacter Program (PI Program) is designed to help those interested in Data Science and AI to develop their skills and prepare them for a successful career. The program offers a variety of roles and responsibilities that PIs can undertake based on their knowledge, interests, and professional goals. Projects typically range from three to six months and qualified members who pass the performance review will receive 5-10 credits depending on their workload. Start earning your credits now at https://grmds.org/careers/pi-program.
RMDS encourages data professionals to share their projects and learnings with each other by uploading projects, data sets and more to the portal on grmds.org. Qualified projects will be selected and given credits for their impact and usefulness. Each recognition will be given 2 credits. Start earning your credits now https://grmds.org/resources.
RMDS platform allows community members to interact with each other, especially through point exchange service. Services that are qualified for credits include: Project Advice, Data Review, Algorithm Review, Code Review, Workflow Review, Model Review, Report Review, Result Evaluation, Pre-processed Data Exchange or Purchase. By providing support to other community members' data science projects, members can earn 2 credits for each service. Start earning your credits now at https://grmds.org/rmds-points.
RMDS invites everyone to grow and enhance the community by becoming a data science ambassador. Activities include but are not limited to sharing data science knowledge, inviting people to join the platform and organizing data-relevant events. Ambassadors typically participate on a given project for three to six months and qualified members will be able to receive 5 –10 credits for the work.
These activities include the development and delivery of professional educational presentations as well as self-study/distance education courses related to the certification’s domains. Instructors will be given credits - two times the credits of students taking the courses/events/lectures. Start earning your credits now at https://grmds.org/rmdslab-expert-portal.
RMDS collaborates with publishing partners such as Taylor & Francis Group and Packt Publishing to offer RMDS experts exclusive opportunities to publish articles and books. Each publication that is generated through RMDS network will be given 5-10 credits depending on the workload. Start earning your credits now at https://grmds.org/call-for-submissions.
This activity includes mentoring efforts directly related to coaching, reviewing, or assisting with data science work or providing career guidance to community members at RMDS Lab. Experts who perform a one-hour mentoring session will earn 1 credit. Start earning your credits now at https://grmds.org/mentorship-program.
This activity includes the data science review and evaluation work done by the experts for programs such as data science competitions and data scientist certification programs. Experts will be given 2 credits for a single review and evaluation assignment.
Earning credits allow you to progress within the RMDS certification system. This comprehensive data science certification system evaluates and certifies data scientists at various levels, per their learning, knowledge, skills, and practical experience. See below for the three levels of RMDS data scientists.
All credits earned from different professional activities in the category of expertise will be reorganized into 5 dimensions. See below for the comprehensive table.
