RMDS Lab will host a STEM acceleration program designed for the best and brightest students from high schools across the country. The RMDS Stem Acceleration Program is a preparatory camp for students who plan to apply to college and are interested in furthering their studies in data science, machine learning and basic computer programming. This four-week intensive program will guide a small group of high-achieving sophomores, juniors and seniors through weekly lessons, one-on-one private tutoring sessions, and the development of a culminatory project showcasing their learnings.
RMDS’ STEM Acceleration Program prepares students for high achievement in postsecondary education programs that lead to careers in the fields of math and science, also known as STEM fields of study. Students will advance their critical thinking and analytical skills - some of the key competencies looked at by top universities during the admission process into STEM programs. They will gain valuable knowledge of coding and computer programming, the basis for the careers of the future. Furthermore, students will learn how to report their findings and highlight their newly acquired skills in a thorough reporting style that rivals university academic research.
Working closely with the mentors, each student will receive personalized attention. Our knowledgeable instructors have tutored and taught students who went on to prosper at Universities, such as Harvard, MIT, Caltech, Univ. of Chicago, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and more. Our instructors have also worked with college students who were then admitted to graduate programs at Stanford and Berkeley.

Certificate of Completion
This is a certified program through which qualified students will get certification from the Global Association for Research Methods and Data Science. This may be shared for applications for university admittance. It may also be shared on LinkedIn to enhance eligibility for internships, fellowships and jobs.

Private 1 on 1 Academic Tutoring
Besides the weekly lessons, our wonderful instruction team consisting of NASA JPL scientists will guide each student on their projects in the weekly 1 on 1 tutoring session.
Real-world Hands-on Project
Students will be able to create a web-based real-time forecasting system during the program, which can be used as a strong supporting evidence for their STEM abilities and practical experience.

Overview
The workshop will cover a complete workflow of data collection, feature extraction, machine learning model building, validation, prediction, and evaluation of hurricane forecast models. It will provide hands-on training in processing satellite data and organizing data for operational hurricane forecasting. The instructor will introduce methods for feature extraction and data dimensionality reduction, and multiple machine learning techniques.
